Shanghai's medical facilities are certainly amongst the best in China. Many companies with operations in Shanghai provide their employees with membership to local, worldwide medical centers. These centers have top Western and Chinese doctors and their own facilities for everything. If major surgery ever required these medical centers have links with the major local hospitals and will provide full medical support whenever needed. In the very rare case that top medical treatment cannot be obtained in Shanghai , patients will be evacuated to Hong Kong . The main local hospitals in Shanghai also have their own expatriate departments and the Huadong, Ruijin, and Huashan hospitals all have separate departments exclusively for the treatments of expats.
